Candlemas the first of the traditional cross-quarter days and occurs on 2 February.

 

Lady Day is the first of the traditional English quarter days and occurred on the 25 March. This was the time of the year at which female servants were freed and could seek a new employer according to a statute of 1664.

 

Saint Mark's day occurs on the 25th of April. It marks the date at which the Bishop replaced the Archdeacon as presiding authority over the Spiritual Court (or Chapter Court).

 

May Day the second of the traditional cross-quarter days and occurs on 1 May.

 

Midsummer Day is the second of the traditional English quarter days and occurs on the 24 June. This is the Christian feastday of John the Baptist. The annual Ingates and Outgates series use this date as the start of a new year.

 

Lammas the third of the traditional cross-quarter days and occurs on 1 August.

 

The feast of Saint Michael the Archangel also called Michaelmas is a Christian feast day and occurs on 29 September. It is the third of the traditional English quarter days. Various Isle of Man accounts books record the start and end of the financial year on this date. Also was the time of the year at which male servants were freed and could seek a new employer according to a statute of 1664.

 

Saint Simon and St Jude's day occurs on the 28th of October. It marks the date at which the Archdeacon replaced the Bishop as presiding authority over the Spiritual Court (or Chapter Court).

 

All Hallows Day is All Saint's Day and falls on the first of November. It is the fourth of the cross-quarter days. Allhallowtide was the period on or around this date. This was the time of the year at which servants were freed and could seek a new employer according to a statute of 1429.

 

Christmas is the fourth of the traditional English quarter days and occurs on the 25 December.
